Ski, Sand and Sun | In July, We’ve Got Two Featured Destinations Full of Fun

When you travel this vast country, oftentimes you encounter areas that are so different, it’s hard to believe you’re in the same nation. For July, we’ve got two featured destinations that are very contrasting, but both offer a great family vacation full of adventure:

See where pirates used to tread in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. 2018 weeks are still available, including summer weeks. In addition to the stunning, natural beaches and quaint small town feel, visitors can delve into the history of flight as they visit the national historic landmark of the Wright Brothers National Memorial, the site of the world’s first controlled powered flight on Dec. 17, 1903. The Visitor Center features full-scale reproductions of the Wright 1903 Powered Flyer and interpretive presentations. The grounds include historical markers of each attempted powered flight, replica camp buildings and a 60-foot granite monument on top of Big Kill Devil Hill (a 90-foot dune) honoring the Wright brothers.

If you’re looking for a ski vacation or a summer in the mountains excursion, try out Park City, Utah. This 2002 Winter Olympics host city is a place of contrasts: cozy yet expansive, glamorous yet down-to-Earth, and friendly yet solitary. You’ll definitely put more miles on your skis than on your car during this vacation- Park City is only 30 minutes up the looming Wasatch Mountain range from Salt Lake City International Airport, and the compact downtown reflects its silver mining past, maintaining the authentic 1870s layout full of local boutiques, bars, night spots, and contemporary restaurants. Rub elbows with celebrities during Sundance Film Festival in January, then lose yourself in the legendary Utah powder of Park City Mountain Resort, the largest ski area in the United States.
