Spring 2014 Issue | RTX Traveler Magazine

No matter how long the winter is, spring is sure to follow.

– Proverb

This winter was extremely cold and snowy for much of the U.S., and while mounds of the white stuff may be a dream come true for the vacationer who loves skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports; we can bet that many of our RTX members have been anticipating the warm weather, sunshine and bright colors as nature wakes up and jumps to life this spring.

To celebrate the new season, the Spring 2014 issue of RTX Traveler magazine features two destinations that encourage visitors to get out and about to enjoy the weather and all of the activities offered in each fantastic place.

In Ocean City, Maryland, we invite you to stroll the historic boardwalk, taking in the sights sounds and flavors of the games, amusements, museums and restaurant options along 3 miles of fun. Get out on the water with a parasailing adventure, or hit the greens at one of the area’s most favorite golf courses. Go beyond the boardwalk and beach of Ocean City with a day trip to one of the towns just a few miles north in Delaware, head inland to quaint Berlin, get good deals with outlet shopping or spend the day at Assateague Island to really get back to nature. Check out our recommendations in Ocean City to see why it’s one of the most popular vacation spots in the Mid-Atlantic.

The perfect complement to a day by the sea would be a trek through the hills, so we’re featuring some of the most beautiful hills – well, mountains – in the country. Banner Elk, North Carolina, is in the heart of the High Country and is the perfect place to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. Take the kids to the always exciting Tweetsie Railroad theme park or explore charming mountain towns like West Jefferson, Blowing Rock and Boone. Cruise the parkway for views only beat by those you get when you hike to a summit on one of many trails in the area. Cross the Mile High Swinging Bridge at Grandfather Mountain and spend the day enjoying the scenery, wildlife and recreation offered at this famous attraction. While visitors flock to Banner Elk all year, spring is the perfect time to take in the area’s abundant wonders of nature.

We hope you enjoy the Spring 2014 issue of RTX Traveler Magazine. Have you been to Ocean City or Banner Elk? Visit our Facebook page and let us know your favorite sites, attractions and restaurants!
