RTX Traveler Magazine Issue 17 | Cape Cod, Massachusetts

RTXTraveler_Issue17_CapeCod_CoverRTX Traveler: Letter from the Editor

As someone who grew up in the rural South, going to places on the Southeastern coast like Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach and anywhere in Florida were familiar and accessible to me. But any time I would hear about someone “vacationing on The Cape,” it sounded fancy, intriguing and maybe even a little out of reach. But now I know that there’s so much more to Cape Cod, and I’m proud that we can show how accessible this beautiful destination is for RTX members.

There’s history going back to Pilgrims on the Mayflower; but also prior to that – 10,000 years prior to that, in fact, as shown at the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Museum. And there’s nature. Oh boy, is there ever.  This relatively tiny jut of land has 560 miles of coastline. Conservation and preservation of the area’s natural habitat is huge, so there are plenty of low-impact walking and biking trails to view the gorgeous landscape and the creatures that call it home.

Sound a little tame to you? Don’t worry, there’s also plenty of culture and entertainment. Between the local artists, vibrant LBGT-friendly Provincetown, and the family-friendly attractions and activities, there’s something for everyone. Plus, Boston is a little more than an hour away, making for an exciting and totally do-able day trip.
This issue’s featured destinations have a heavy focused on outdoor activities. From whale watching and wine drinking to bike riding and Native American land, we’ll show you destinations where you can completely soak in the best of the best of nature’s beauty, whether you’re an active adventurer, a history buff or want total relaxation.
While we love inspiring our members’ next vacation destinations, we also want to ensure that our members are educated. Our Member News articles feature industry resource VacationBetter.org, RTX partner company spotlight, Patton Hospitality Management, and an employee profile and company news from our home office in Asheville, N.C.

We hope that you enjoy this 17th issue of RTX Traveler magazine, whether you’re reading it on vacation or in the comfort of your home. It’s hard to believe, but 2017 has rounded the curve and the year’s end is approaching quickly. Let us know when you’re ready to plan your 2018 vacation, and RTX will get you there.
