#OrlandoUnited | A note from RTX

We are still reeling from the news of the tragedy in Orlando. We have 18 employees in our Orlando office (who are all safe, thankfully). We also have numerous affiliated resorts, partner companies and industry peers in Orlando. Indeed, this tragedy has struck very close to home for us.

Orlando is a crown jewel of the vacation industry, and the wonderfully hospitable people who call the city home are a huge part of what makes it a destination worth visiting time and time again. We are saddened to see such a senseless act happen anywhere, but especially in such an incredibly loving and vibrant place. As the stories emerge of the bright lights who were extinguished far too soon, one stands out to us. This is the story of Luis as shared on the ETT Blog. Luis was an employee of Universal Orlando, and he helped bring magic to visitors from around the world:

Luis Vielma was an employee of Universal Orlando, and a ride operator at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. He was raised by his family in Orlando. He went to school in Orlando with his friends. He worked in Orlando with his colleagues where he greeted guests from all over the world. …

Much like the members of Gryffindor in the novels of Harry Potter, Luis exemplified bravery. His friends are undoubtedly proud of the example he has set for them.

Today, sir, we raise our wands in your honor and pray that evil is soon vanquished from this world.

Our hearts are heavy, and our condolences go out to Luis’s family, friends and co-workers; as they do to all of the loved ones of all the lights extinguished far too soon at Pulse.

Orlando, our hearts are with you. In the wake of this tragedy, we have seen stories of so much love, strength and support for all of those affected, and we have to believe that is what will prevail. We are all Orlando.
