Travel Tips | Seasonal Travel on South Padre | When is the Best Time for You?
The subtropical climate on the island keeps things warm year round, but there are still four distinct travel seasons at SPI. Decide which one works best for your family, each season has its own personality.
Winter– The Gulf moisture keeps it feeling tropical, with hibiscus in bloom and shorts and sandals appropriate. The average high in January is a comfortable 69 degrees Fahrenheit. Many winter Texans and snowbirds choose to spend their time here during the sleepy winters.
Spring– South Padre heats up with a legendary spring break crowd. College students flock to the island in March for beach concerts and late night partying. If this appeals to you, remember, increased traffic and noise come with the celebrations.
Summer– Summer is family time on the island, with average highs right around 90, it’s the perfect time to get in the water and enjoy the blue water. The island enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year, and summer vacation goers will soak in a lot of it.
Fall– Fall might be the slowest vacation of the year. This transition period sees the kids back in school, and the winter birds not quite here yet. Take advantage of more room availability and gorgeous weather: the average high in October is 85 degrees!
