For some travelers, the packing process can take the wind right out of your vacation sails before you even launch. Make packing an enjoyable start to your great adventure with these quick tips for a carefree tropical vacation.

An African American family of four packing their car for a trip to the beach or pool, with cooler, umbrella and toys. The teenage boy is carrying pool noodles and the 10 year old girl is watching the father put a picnic basket into the car.

  1. Go Virtual: Thanks to our smart phones, we can travel virtually paperless. Make sure you can easily access (off line) room reservations, airline tickets, ID or passport, heath insurance card and credit cards.
  1. Pick your luggage wisely: The lost luggage rate dropped 10.5% in 2015 for good reason. More travelers are packing lighter. But, if you need to go big, consider a luggage delivery service for the ultimate in bag-free travel. The average 22 inch carry-on fits: 3 bathing suits, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts, 2 dresses, 6 tops, 2 pairs of sandals, 1 pair of flip-flops, 1 hat, 1 scarf or light jacket, 1 charger and a beach bag.
  1. Take personal care seriously: Your vacation is a time to pamper yourself. Take time to plan your comfort inside and out. Your list should contain more than just toiletries. Don’t forget medications, vitamins & supplements, hair clips, your favorite perfume, delicious moisturizer and fun jewelry to spice up any outfit.
  1. Adventure is the spice of life: Exploring the tropics can be a dream. Keep it that way with a few key items every explorer needs in their travel pack; multi purpose sandals for water and terrain, quick dry shorts, sun protection shirts that are also quick dry, a supportive bathing suit and a beach bag that can double as a backpack.
  1. Beach time is your time: The beach is where rest meets relaxation. Powdery sands and cascading waves sooth the soul unless you don’t have the right gear. To maximize your lounging experience, bring an insulated cup to keep your drink cold, a pad or tablet, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray and aloe.

Now you can pack and travel with confidence to enjoy every moment your tropical vacation!
