Travel Smart Gatlinburg | Best Apps and Ways to Get Around

Other than using your RTX Voyages travel perks, what are some other ways to save money or add convenience to your trip? What do you need to know when you arrive and are in your rental car, ready to go?  How can you make technology work for you on this trip? Let’s go over smart travel in our Travel Smart Gatlinburg section.

Must have app: Need a handy app to get around and find all the cool things to do in town? Download the Official Gatlinburg app brought to you by the Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. According to the Gatlinburg CVB, this free app has mountains of information: learn about special events and festivals, attractions and outdoor adventure, the town’s unique restaurants, places to stay, maps and much more!

Before trekking into the wilderness: Chimani makes excellent National Park guide apps, and the one for Great Smoky Mountains National Park is no exception. The Chimani guide features expert-written details on more than 300 unique points of interest, a professionally voiced 60-minute audio-guided auto tour, GPS-enabled maps that work without a cell/Wi-Fi connection and can be custom edited and annotated, a calendar of park ranger-led events, sunrise/sunset times and top viewing locations, and a ton more to help you see the best of the park!

Amusement supplement: The Dollywood App contains a wayfinding map, show schedules, ride wait times, and exclusive offers. This app is designed to streamline your experience, make your visit more convenient for everyone, and highlight activities you may have missed otherwise. It’s everything you need to maximize your time at the best theme park around!

Getting around: Ride Gatlinburg’s excellent downtown trolley system and GPS track the cars online for free. Visit to see routes, stops, and where the trolley cars are in real time. Although the downtown is highly walkable, alternatively, Uber and Lyft are also available for rides in Gatlinburg.
