Tahoe Freshness | Ski Run Farmers Market
Northern California offers a bounty of fresh produce, and it is well represented at the Ski Run Farmers Market, a short walk from your accommodations in South Lake Tahoe. The market is open Fridays in the summer from 3-8 p.m. on the beautiful Ski Run Boulevard, with the ski lifts of Heavenly ascending in the background. The lively market is a calming way to peruse the California culture of Tahoe, and a great way to unwind at the end of the day.
The farm to fork movement is going strong in the area. The Ski Run Farmers Market features more than 35 vendors with organic farm produce, local food and snacks, a bounce house for kids, live music, and locally-made arts and crafts. There’s also Sample the Sierra, a local festival celebrating the best food, wine, and art in the Sierra Nevadas, taking place Sept. 14 in Bijou Community Park. This tenth annual festival plates regionally-sourced cuisine and local libations to celebrate homegrown food, wines, spirits and brews, and champions the growing foodie culture in South Lake Tahoe.
Support local business and farming, have a delicious dinner, make some friends, and get some fresh air while you’re at it. It’s a quintessential Lake Tahoe experience.
