Presidential Suites, Punta Cana | Dominican Republic | RTX Traveler Issue 14

Presidential Suites is located in the heart of the action of Bavaro Beach, but the resort itself is sleepy and cozy. There is nightly entertainment provided by the hardworking employees, but don’t expect any wild parties lasting long into the night. Instead, find a relaxing atmosphere that begs visitors to slow down and take in the brilliant azure waters and bright white sand beach.

Punta Cana (16)

For swimming and sunning, there are two large, canal-like pools slithering their way between the white four-story buildings on either side. Guests can enjoy drink and lunch service without leaving their pool chair. The rooms are all suites, the smallest being one bedroom/two baths, and the largest being a three-bedroom rooftop suite with rock star amenities like a spiral staircase leading to your own sun deck. The compound is completely fenced in with private security manning the gates for everyone’s peace of mind.

Past the pools, the vacation vibe gets stronger: beach sand starts early in the lounging area, which has plenty of chaise lounges and daybeds, and is flanked by the two restaurants. There’s a beach bar that literally has waves lapping at it during high tide; this is the spot to be if you want to sip a tropical drink while gazing at the beach action by day, and socialize by night. It’s an idyllic little spot that really encompasses relaxation and a care-free attitude.
