Pink Jeep Tours | Sedona AZ

PJT-2-Print_webTake a ride on the wild side of the desert

One of the popular ways to explore the rugged terrain of the Sedona desert is with a guided tour in a Jeep or other sports utility vehicle (SUV), and Pink Jeep Tours of Sedona may be one of the most recognizable outfits of its kind to do just that. With nine different experiences to choose from, your Pink Jeep Sedona adventure can take you to attractions such as the Grand Canyon, ancient ruins or petroglyph sites. Other tours combine a Jeep excursion with horseback riding or hiking, and some of the tours explore areas and routes that are exclusively accessed by Pink Jeep.

One of the most popular tours is the Broken Arrow Tour, which starts with a trek on a rugged SUV trail on the outskirts of town that winds to an overlook with the town of Sedona in the foreground and visibility beyond for nearly 100 miles on a clear day. As you pass Snoopy Rock and other recognizable formations, your tour guide will bombard you with facts about the geography, geology, flora, fauna and history of the area. Some of the most popular modern history comes from the old Western movies that were filmed in the area, and you may learn a few little-known facts about the quirks and inaccuracies of some of these films.

After a steep descent, you’ll be on paved road for about five minutes before going into an area where there truly is no road, and Pink Jeep tours are the only vehicles allowed. This is where you can stretch your legs and take a few photos of the stunning views of Submarine Rock or Chicken Point, and you’ll be holding on for dear life as the jeep rumbles down the 45-degree angle on the “Road of No Return.”

With a Pink Jeep Tour in Sedona you’re guaranteed breathtaking scenery and adventure, with the added bonus of entertaining stories and local history.

Pink Jeep Main Print_webAbout Pink Jeep Tours:
Since 1960, Pink Jeep Tours has been taking visitors throughout the red rocks country around Sedona. Tour guides are not only experts at handling their vehicles, but they are also certified in CPR and First Aid and most are certified as Interpretive Guides through the National Association for Interpretation. Best of all, they have great storytelling personalities and genuinely love what they do.

Safety first:
Each vehicle must pass a 20-point inspection at the Pink Jeep Service Center in Sedona every day before taking its first tour. Every 30 days, a more rigorous 55-point inspection is required. The tour guides are assigned to specific vehicles so that they truly know each and every idiosyncrasy of the Jeep to further ensure the safety and fun of guests.

Good to know:
Early morning tours can be the best ones, but be sure to wear a jacket. Even in the summer months, it’s chilly before the sun rises. Some area hotels and resorts are on the Pink Jeep’s pick-up route, so check in advance to see where you should meet your tour and at what time.
