Lazy River Rafting

River RaftingThe Colorado River can certainly be intimidating. Images of towering, crashing whitewater and swirling pools might dance through your head, but not all of the 1,450 mile river is wild. Mad Adventures, located near the headwaters of the Colorado, offers day trips that are mild enough to take the entire family. You’ll go through beautiful red canyons, see vivid wildflower displays, forests of Blue Spruce and Douglas Fir trees, and maybe even a nesting Bald Eagle, patiently waiting to catch its next meal. The put in is in Kremmling, about a 30-minute scenic drive from Granby. You’ll go through a brief safety orientation from your knowledgeable guide before putting in at the Pumphouse launching site. We enjoyed the mellow ride- the minimum age for the trip is 4 years old, so this one is gentle enough for the whole family. Relax in the sunshine as you’re immersed in the wilderness, and get a nice cool splash as you head over the rapids, a sure thrill for those on board. There’s even a brief stop for daredevilas at a cliff jumping spot in the river, complete with photographer standing by. It’s a great way to spend a summer day seeing the natural parts of Colorado from below.
