Hit the Green: Where to tee off on your next RTX vacation

Hilton Head Island is one of the most popular golf destinations in the country. If you are a golf enthusiast who chooses your vacation destination based on the best courses worth traveling for, check out some of RTX’s picks for top golf vacation spots. Not only do these places offer incredible golf, but there’s plenty to see and do off the green as well.

Myrtle Beach, SC

Just a few hours north of Hilton Head Island, Myrtle Beach is a favorite of golfers for its similar climate and geography. In Murrells Inlet, take a swing at award-winning Wachesaw Plantation East during the day and head to The Inlet’s waterfront for amazing seafood in the evening.

Another great course to try is the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club on Pawley’s Island. Like many of the area’s golf courses, Caledonia is on an old plantation, and majestic live oaks provide a shaded cathedral-like canopy as you slowly drive toward the original plantation house where the pro shop and restaurant are now located. After your round, enjoy lunch and the views at the Caledonia Grillroom.

Bella Vista, AR:

This planned resort community is a favorite of golfers, with 126 holes over eight courses set among the majestic Ozark Mountains. From laid back and scenic courses on gentle terrain to more challenging play where the skill required is only surpassed by the views, Bella Vista caters to all levels of golfers. The on-site pro shops offer rental clubs and a full line of golf apparel and equipment.

If not everyone in your family can fill the days on the courses, there are seven lakes in the village that offer fishing, swimming, boating and other water sports. A variety of other recreation includes walking trails, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a racquetball court, playground and picnic area.

Scottsdale, AZ

Scottsdale’s desert climate is ideal for golf in cooler seasons, and this area offers challenges, views and championship courses that are unique and unmatched. The Troon North Golf Club helped put desert golf on the map. Pros and novices alike can take a swing at either the Pinnacle Course or the Monument Course.

If your vacation is a family affair, the Kierland Golf Club’s SNAG Golf program teaches children the fundamentals of the sport using modified equipment and specialized instruction methods. When you’re taking a break from the greens, enjoy the art galleries, shops and restaurants of Old Town and Downtown or take in a desert hike in the Sonoran. Read more about Scottsdale here.
