Hilton Head Island’s Heritage Golf Group

Championship golf courses surrounded by natural beauty on land saturated with history make teeing off on Hilton Head an unforgettable experience.

While there are many different things to see and do on Hilton Head Island, it’s no secret that golf is one of the major draws of the area. With 24 championship golf courses open to the public over less than 60 square miles, there’s no question that the sport is ingrained in the lives of those who live, work and visit the island.

Golfers who stay at Coral Sands Resort with RTX have access to courses that are part of the Heritage Golf Group. The Heritage Golf Group offers seven courses on Hilton Head Island, with a great variety of scenery and play for all ages and skill levels from novice to professional.

The three courses at Port Royal Golf Club were created by different designers, so each course offers a unique playing experience. In addition to the championship golf, guests have access to tennis at the Racquet Club on site as well as a full bar and restaurant in the beautiful clubhouse. Port Royal offers golfing fun for the whole family with discounts, junior tees and family-only golf during certain hours throughout the summer.

The Palmetto Hall Plantation Club offers two courses that are immersed in Southern elegance and natural beauty. Palmetto Hall is also recognized as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. This means the course is committed to protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and providing wildlife habitats. Amenities include a clubhouse, practice facility, pro shop and restaurant.

The Shipyard Golf Club is directly across the street from Coral Sands Resort, making it easily accessible during your RTX vacation. Three nine-hole courses can be played separately or combined for an 18 hole game. Four tee positions ensure that each course is as welcoming for beginners and novices as it is fun for skilled players. The comfortable and relaxed clubhouse features a fully stocked golf shop, practice facility and Reflections on the Green restaurant for lunch.

The Oyster Reef Golf Club features an 18-hole championship course that has been named on several “best of” and “top courses” lists by local, regional and national golf publications. On the north end of the island, this course is a favorite of island residents and skilled players who visit. The clubhouse at Oyster Reef features a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, a full-service golf shop, practice facility and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Upon check in to Coral Sands Resort, guests will be given a golf card with one phone number to book tee times at all courses. Reservations can be made 24 hours in advance. Tee times are spaced at eight minutes apart, and a typical round can take approximately four and a half hours at any given course. On the busiest days, the courses can see more than 300 players in a day.
