Dining in Fort Lauderdale

Late Night Bites and 24/7 Diners Rule This Beach City

Eating options are seemingly endless in Fort Lauderdale, especially in the bustling downtown area and along the beachfront. One thing that’s noticeable here is that no matter what time of day or night it may be, there’s always somewhere within a few blocks where you can find a meal. While late night or early morning dining may not be part of your usual routine, it’s always good to know where you can go when hunger strikes.

Primanti Bros.: Whether you want to grab a quick slice to go or sit down and enjoy a signature sandwich topped with fresh-cut French fries, Primanti Brothers Pizza & Grill has been a staple for late night beach eats since 1970. With roots in Pittsburg dating back to 1933, the small chain remains dedicated to the notion that people deserve great food at a reasonable price. The Fort Lauderdale location is the only one aside from the original that is open 24/7.

Lester’s Diner: This classic American diner has been family owned and operated in south Florida for nearly 45 years. The menu has everything a traditional diner should: hearty breakfasts with a huge variety of options, plenty of sandwiches and hamburgers, deli selections and Greek and Italian dishes as well as seafood, chicken, steaks and salads. Breakfast gets busy but you can enjoy coffee from their famous 14-oz mugs any time, day or night. The Fort Lauderdale location is open 24/7.

The Floridian: Since 1937, “The Flo” has been a landmark for locals and draws plenty of visitors as well with its classic diner fare of American comfort food and a huge variety of dishes for breakfast, dinner and everything in between. Breakfast prices range from $5 to $350 – that’s for the “Fat Cat” breakfast with steak and eggs for two, and a bottle of Dom Perignon – but most are within the very reasonable $7 to $10 range.

Kisses from Italy: Across the street from Primanti Bros., Kisses from Italy is smaller and newer, but with plenty of tasty options. Grab a quick coffee, smoothie, pastry or dessert to go, or choose a signature sandwich from the grill (hot) or from the deli (cold). The signature Panzerotti (like a small calzone) is perfect after a long day on the beach. Choose filling that’s either savory (cheese and/or meat) or sweet (Nutella). House made bread and fresh, top quality ingredients make this spot stand out from other 24-hour options.

Not quite all night: You may not always need a 24-hour option, and there are plenty of places that serve late night menus until midnight or later. Get late night tacos and nachos downtown at Rocco’s Tacos, or go to Sushi Song, where the best seats in the house are at the sushi bar where you can watch the chefs create signature and special rolls until 2 a.m.
