Located at the end of Main Street in downtown Dunedin is the Dunedin Marina, home to Olde Bay Cafe & Dunedin Fish Market. The unassuming restaurant and fish market is not just the best place for seafood in town but perhaps the best in the entire Tampa Bay area.

Open 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day, the fish market is a great place to pick up some fresh grouper, red snapper or cod to prepare at your vacation condo and is an even better place to sit down and enjoy an amazing sunset  on the outdoor dining deck.

The only thing that trumps the sunset is the perfectly cooked fish that is always caught the same day by the owners.  Never fried, a fish filet of your selection and size choice is pan seared in a cast iron skillet with simple seasoning and butter, creating a crispy skin. The filet is then finished off in the oven until perfectly fork tender and flaky.

Some of other favorites that keep the locals coming to Olde Bay Cafe include the peel n’ eat shrimp, blue crab cakes and their hearty selection of locally brewed craft beers on tap.

It’s only fitting that the owners of a seafood restaurant that is located on a marina are also the fishermen who bring in the daily bounty provided by the sea. Both Dennis and Walt know the waters of the area very well as they grew up in the bay area. In fact, Walt began filleting fish at the market at the young age of 16 before heading off to college. Years later, after graduating he realized his true passion was in the kitchen and would eventually study under six James Beard Award winning chefs before returning home to Dunedin to open his own successful restaurant and eventually buy the Dunedin Fish Market and open Olde Bay Cafe, the place where it all started.
