Science and Discovery: Stimulating Museum Experiences

One of the most overheard questions on a family vacation is, “Are there any activities for the children?” While a trip to Florida means countless theme parks and amusement parks to choose from, not every vacation destination is afforded this luxury. Children’s museums, an often overlooked vacation activity, stimulate the mind, burn energy and most importantly entertain the little ones. Explore, experience and uncover the mysteries of science at these amazing world-class museums located near popular RTX exchange destinations.

Boasting a large collection of permanent and temporary scientific exhibits, the Boston Museum of Science is a full day of family fun. Located on the historic Charles River, the massive 130,000 square foot building is home to more than 700 exhibits, a planetarium and an IMAX theater.

Start by spending time in the Children’s Discovery Center. Designed specifically for the little ones, there are two floors with tunnels, puzzles, interactive games, animal exhibits and much more. Kids who have outgrown the Discovery Center can explore the history of trains and cars at the Machines and Transportation exhibit or head further back in time and visit with a Triceratops skeleton or Tyrannosaurus rex model at the Dinosaurs: Modeling the Mesozoic exhibit.

For a dazzling show head over to the Charles Hayden Planetarium or the Mugar Omni Theater. Powered by hi-tech full dome video and audio systems, the planetarium showcases a variety of engaging shows including their original production, Inside NASA: From Dream to Discovery. Wrapping audiences in larger-than-life images of flora, fauna and faraway places, the Mugar Omni Theater’s five-story-tall IMAX Dome screen is an experience like no other. Filling the viewers full field of vision, the science and nature based educational films provide the viewer a life-like view and feeling of full immersion.
