Broken Compass Brewing Company

Broken Compass Brewing CompanyWith more than 230 craft breweries located in the state (more than 10 percent of the nation’s microbreweries), beer lovers flock to Colorado to enjoy the freshest trends and tastiest brews. They’ve got everything ranging from everyday macro offerings by Fat Tire and New Belgium to rare seasonal barely and tripel ales. Breckenridge is no exception to the trend, hosting the popular Broken Compass Brewing Company, rated one of the best breweries in the U.S., according to Yelp reviewers. Located off Airport Road, the spacious, wooden-walled brewery has an open, laid back vibe that you’d expect at a mountain brewery. Dogs are welcome, and you can bring your own food or order it in. They even have a Monday night potluck with prizes for the best dishes. The beer selection is uncommon and extensive: we tried the chili pepper pale ale, a unique easy drinking ale with the addition of five types of zesty chili peppers. Other popular summer brews include a delicious hefeweizen, a hopped up India pale lager, an Irish red, and a tasty coconut porter, among many others. They also have a new nitrogen tap, with rotating beers available. The nitro tap creates a cascade of foam (think Guinness on tap) and finer bubbles for a denser head and creamier pour. Check it out when you’re in Breckenridge and want to have a tasty brew away from downtown.
