Florida’s sunshine and warm weather provide the perfect setting for America’s pastime. Here are a few of the teams who train in the area and have minor league teams who call Tampa Bay home.

Ball & BatDunedin Blue Jays

With a seating capacity of 5,500, Dunedin’s quaint Florida Auto Exchange Stadium fits the small town’s personality and is the perfect place to enjoy a night of baseball.

Once the Toronto Blue Jays leave town their Class-A Advanced team the Dunedin Blue Jays settle in for the remainder of the season. The older crowd will enjoy $2 beers with Thirsty Thursday while families can take advantage of children 12 and under receiving free admission to Sunday home games.

All tickets are general admission and cost only $7 making a Dunedin Blue Jays game an affordable and exciting event for the whole family.

 

Philadelphia Phillies

Fans of the Philadelphia Phillies only have to travel 6 miles south of Dunedin to Bright House Field in Clearwater to experience their favorite team. A variety of special events throughout the Spring Training season provide families the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite players while they prepare for the upcoming season.

The Phillies’ Class-A affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers, take over the stadium for the remainder of the year. With tickets starting at $7, fireworks after every Saturday home game and promotions such as Dollar Hot Dog Night, a Threshers game is a great way to relax while in Dunedin.

One of the most iconic franchises in all of sports, the New York Yankees play their spring baseball across the bay from Dunedin at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. A miniature replica of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, the field itself is a draw for avid fans of the team.

Catch the stars of the Major League team from mid February through early April as they warm up for the season. From April through September the team’s Class-A Advanced affiliate the Tampa Yankees call the stadium home. After the game the family-friendly shops and restaurants of International Plaza are perfect for hanging out with the locals.
