ARDA: Trending Now

ARDAMemberLogoTrying something new is always a good thing. Information collected by TripAdvisor and highlighted by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) shows that travelers this year are searching for new and unique experiences: 69 percent of global travelers are looking to try something new on their vacation, and 25 percent of millennials choose a destination solely for its unique activities.

ARDA says experiential travelers are looking for four main things in a vacation: one-of-a-kind properties, experiences of the future, firsthand experiences, and fully immersive vacations. Whether it’s brand new, distinct family attractions at a top-notch resort, new ways to have fun on vacation, or stunning natural areas that are unique in every way, the timeshare industry has travelers covered in this contemporary and exciting travel frontier.

1. A One-of-a-Kind Property
Explore Summer Bay Orlando by Exploria Resorts, which features a 400-acre family resort complete with an in-house adventure park. Buccaneer Bay features zip lines, climbing walls, inflatable slides and water features, as well as an exclusive 64-acre private lake with bumper boats and water trampolines. This isn’t your grandfather’s resort.

2. An Experience of the Future
On the cutting edge of travel recreation, the Flyboard water jetpack is gaining in popularity as an advanced way to have some fun on your vacation. This one replaces the old school fun of parasailing for those seeking a thrill. A personal watercraft force feeds a spray of water downward from underneath the wearer, allowing a user to soar 20 feet above the water. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience, and available at many of our seaside destinations.

3. How About a #Naturecation?RTX
At RTX, many of the resorts our members visit are located within proximity to our country’s natural wonderlands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, pristine beaches, and forested hiking trails. This ensures your vacation is always filled with firsthand experiences. Taking your family on their first trip to the beach or mountains is a memory that lasts a lifetime.

4. Fully Immerse Yourself in Vacation
An emerging trend this year is the appearance of selfie stations in resort tiki bars and restaurants, but that’s not all: new properties such as Karisma Hotels & Resorts’ Nickelodeon Hotel & Resort Punta Cana sets the standard for making sure you’re surrounded by vacation activities while on your trip. Let the kids go crazy at the on-site water park, indoor playground, sports facility, and Character Central, where Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer hang out.
