Find out Why Gatlinburg is our October Featured Destination

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is America’s most visited national park. Yes it’s full of waterfalls, lush greenery, towering trees, looming mountains, abundant wildlife, and scenic vistas, but it’s also close by and convenient for millions of Americans. And Gatlinburg is right next door to the park. Have you visited yet? Keep reading to find out why we love Gatlinburg, and why it’s our featured destination this month.

Strolling through downtown Gatlinburg, you’ll find a variety of folks from all over. The convenient location in eastern Tennessee puts it at a crossroads in the southeast, accessible by car to millions of families. Kitschy gift shops capitalize on the mountain hillbilly image, with moonshine, bear souvenirs, and plenty of food for sale. There are also all sorts of attractions downtown: Ripley’s museums, the Space Needle, capitalizing on the mountain view from the valley, and Ober Gatlinburg, a state of the art tram going up the mountain. (And what a view!)

Head southwest on US 441 to enter Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the trees falling overhead like a veil lifting. You could spend your whole life in the park and never see it all, the vast wilderness and history appearing before your eyes.
